Laura Byer

Owner / Principal Planner

 

Laura is the Owner and Principal Planner for Byer Planning. Laura received a Master of City Planning degree from the University of Pennsylvania with concentrations in Sustainable Transportation and Infrastructure and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). With almost a decade of experience in urban and regional planning, active transportation planning, and GIS services, Laura is well-prepared to help clients achieve their planning goals regardless of local density and context. She has worked on a variety of projects across diverse regions and landscapes:

  • Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plans at the local, regional, and state levels

  • Trail Feasibility Studies for local, regional, and statewide trail systems

  • Strategic State Agency Plans which aim to better include the needs of vulnerable users in all aspects (e.g., planning, design, maintenance, programming, etc.)

  • Wayfinding, kiosk, and printed map designs

  • Laura has experience working in multiple states across the United States including New York, California, Vermont, Connecticut, Wyoming, Virginia, West Virginia, Alabama, Maryland, Louisiana, Missouri, and Pennsylvania; most notably, she was the Planner and GIS Manager for a 750-mile long trail system throughout the State of New York
